Editorial: Governor shouldn’t lie about projects he knows about

....So does anybody believe Inslee was not briefed on the meetings with Riverside Energy? Of course not. He knew about this project, and in much greater depth, than has been reported by the media. Inslee seems to have purposely misled reporters and the public......

Gov. Jay Inslee did not lie. We got it wrong Wednesday when we rebuked the governor for what we believed to be intentional deception in regard to the possible siting of a combined crude oil and biofuel refinery in the Longview, Wash., area.....

.... the governor specifically wanted to be kept at a distance from this and other projects he might have to make a decision on if the project goes to the Energy Facility Site Evaluation Council.....

Either Jay Inslee’s staff believes the state is better off when they leave their boss out of critical policy matters, or Inslee wouldn’t know the truth even if he received a formal introduction. Those are two plausible explanations for the latest scandal to come out of the governor’s office.....

[another Ed. note: Now Jaime Smith of the governor's office has put out a memo full of explanations and denials, too long to copy here. But I'm sure it will get into print. Meanwhile those expecting Inslee's rubber stamp may have a problem. ]
