Final Economic Analysis Shows Benefits of a Clean Fuels
Standard
Washington’s
future could be cleaner and more prosperous with a clean fuels
standard. Full stop. The results from an independent economic
analysis released by the Office of Financial Management are
unequivocal:
Gross State Product would grow up to $140
million
Personal Income would grow up to $130
million
Employment: 1,430 new jobs in a given year
Pollution: reductions in carbon, NOx, and
particulate emissions
This economic analysis, produced by an
independent consultant with substantial input from industry and
community stakeholders, strongly supports moving forward with a clean
fuels standard.
Diversifying our transportation fuel supply will create good jobs
across our state and cleaner air for our children to breathe. The
economic sectors that will see the greatest benefits from a clean fuels
standard are construction, real estate and retail, demonstrating
how clean fuels invest in Main Street. The clean air benefits will
relieve those suffering from asthma and respiratory diseases.
Business and public health leaders
have joined elected leaders and Washingtonians
across the state in a coalition to support a clean fuel future.
